The following engines are by far the most important Search Engines to be listed with on the web. Just enter your URL and your email address if required in the form and hit submit. You'll need to hit your back button on your browser to return to this page to continue submitting.

Where's Yahoo?

Altavista

  • We've had the best success only submitting 1 page per day from any one domain. You can try more, but AltaVista tends to ignore more than one.
  • Altavista supports <meta> keywords and descriptions.
  • Your keyword MUST appear in the <title> to rank highly.

Excite

  • <meta> keywords and descriptions NOT used on Excite.
  • Only submit 25 pages from any one domain to Excite, but make sure one of those pages is a complete list of all the URL's you want listed, their spider will follow them.

HotBot

  • Maximum submissions 50 per day from any one domain.
  • <meta> keywords and descriptions are supported.

Infoseek

  • Maximum submissions 50 per day from any one site.
  • Separate submissions by at least 30 minutes to help avoid human inspection
  • <meta> keywords and descriptions are supported. If you use the <meta> keyword tag don't repeat any form of a word.
  • Your keyword MUST appear in the <title> to rank highly.
  • Don't use the <meta> refresh tag.
  • Don't use the EXACT same color text and background.
  • Don't use repetitive text (keyword, keyword, keyword) anywhere in the page.

Lycos

  • <meta> keywords are supported, <meta> descriptions are not, to get a good description try putting the description in the upper most image's alt. text.
  • Your keyword MUST appear in the <title> to rank highly.

Northern Light

  • Your keyword MUST appear in the <title> to rank highly.
  • The description is a combination of the page title and the first few lines of the page. Doesn't use <meta> description for listing.
  • Indexes <meta> tag information, but doesn't appear to boost relevancy.

Webcrawler

  • <meta> keyword and description tags are supported.
  • Your keyword MUST appear in the <title> to rank highly.

Where's Yahoo?
When submitting your site to Yahoo, it must be done from the category that Yahoo believes your link belongs in. Normally, you only submit your site's main URL to be considered for Yahoo, like "http://www.site.com" or "http://www.webility.com/site". Yahoo won't accept pages other than your main page, so don't bother trying to get your whole site listed.
